Scholarships

     
     Alice Texas Exes has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a local high school graduate each year for the past 23 years.

     Funds for the scholarship are raised via Silent and Live Auctions at our annual Texas Independence Day Celebration held in March of each year.

     Our local Chapter provides $500 towards the scholarship which is matched with another $500 from The Ex-Students' Association,  for the total $1,000 scholarship.

     Applicants submit applications for the scholarship through the Alice High School counselors office, and the winner is chosen by our chapter's selection committee headed by that year's Alice Texas Exes Scholarship Chairman.

     Scholarship Selection Criteria includes:

• Top 25 percent of high school class
• Commitment from UT for admission
• Financial need should be a consideration
• Other indications of leadership, extracurricular activities, and community involvement, as determined by the chapter's selection committee.

     Scholarship recipients are honored at a banquet in the Alumni Center in Austin each year in late August or early September.  Additionally a representative of our local chapter attends the Alice High School Scholarship Awards program each spring to present the scholarship to that year's recipient.

     High School Seniors wishing to apply for the scholarship should contact the Alice High School's counselor office in early spring to obtain a application.
